Dr. Khalid Rehman is an accomplished public health professional with extensive experience in both research and practice. He holds an MBBS, an MPH, and earned his PhD in Public Health from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He further enhanced his expertise with a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of York, UK.
With over 19 years of experience spanning multiple countries, including Pakistan, Liberia, Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan, Austria, Turkey, Syria, and Mozambique, his work focuses on the control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. He has made significant contributions to malaria, leishmaniasis, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, COVID-19, tuberculosis, diabetes, and mental health. His dedication to advancing public health has earned him numerous competitive research grants from prestigious funders, including the WHO/TDR, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, GIZ, and others. He currently leads a £1.1 million NIHR-funded cluster randomized controlled trial in Pakistan for diabetes prevention and control.
Dr. Rehman is now Professor of Public Health and Director of the Institute of Public Health & Social Sciences at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar. He also serves as Co-Director of the Clinical Trials Unit and Co-PI of a WHO TDR Satellite Regional Training Centre. His academic contributions include over 38 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 200, and he has supervised over 50 Master scholars.
